The Christian Standard just came out with an article, How Churches Are Reaching Out to Older Adults. The article featured CCC's Carillon Campus which is located in a retirement golf community for adults who are 55 and over. One excerpt from the article: "Church members in Carillon can recount numerous stories of people who found their way back to God through small group ministry. One of these men, Bob, had owned his own business and traveled all over the country before retiring and moving into Carillon. Campus Pastor Earl Ferguson said, “We invited him initially to a small group and we could practically see his eyes begin to open to the message of the gospel. Bob was baptized when he was 80 years old and told his friends and family, ‘All my life I’ve known something was missing and now I know what it is.’" Love it!
This is great. When I came to the Church I am pastoring I ran off most of our 55 and older people. I made a LOT of STUPID choices as the leader. We are now struggling to get them back. Thanks for this blog.

I came to Christ, among other reasons, having been mentored in small groups from some very "seasoned" Christians who brought wisdom to the journey! They have so much to share as well with the younger Christ followers!

I am amazed that a newspaper reporter actually used our language when describing the story. I thought for sure that Earl would be a priest and Bob was one of his parishioners.
