What first place team in major league baseball has the biggest lead in their division? White Sox! What team has the best record in baseball? Cubs. (Of course 1908 was the last time it was this late in the season that the Cubs had this distinction.) It seems like this might be a special year...maybe even a special October? Did you know that it has been 35 years since both the White Sox and the Cubs were in first place after June 1st?
I know all this ridiculous optimism could make me sound like a naive Cub fan. But I like living on the edge, so let me be the first to predict: The White Sox in 5 games in an all Chicago World Series!
no, no - you're way off Dave.
It's gonna be the Cubs in six games! :)

Man - you really are a ridiculous optimist - thinking the Cubs would actually win a game against the Sox in the World Series. :)

Dave... you need to pick a team. Sometimes a White Sox fan. Sometimes a Cardinals fan. And in this post you allude to possibly being a naive Cubs fan. If we all got to pick three teams we would have better chances of having a special October.

Hey Dave,
I am glad that you drank some of the Cubs koolaid! I hope we didn't wear off on you too much on our short little drive to the hotel in Cali :)

Uuuuhhhh, there's this little team in Boston that might have something to say about that. But I think a Red Sox/Cubs World Series would be INCREDIBLE! Hopefully noone takes a homerun ball out of the player's glove again...
But wait, if it was an all Chicago WS, then it would be like a "Big Idea" message. One point - Chicago!

let me be nice first, thanks for the blog!
ok, now ... SOX IN FIVE?????????? As a Cubs fan, I am absolutely outraged for several reasons.
#1 - when a person is bowling a 300 game, you don't mention it, everyone is silent about it .. it's the same for when the Cubs are good. Are you trying to jinx them?
#2 - if you had to bring it up .. did you have to pick the SOX to win? Bandwagon fan ..
#3 - I don't have one, but I said several, so I needed a third point .. so .. grrrr .. just grrrrrrrr

Well...I doubt it very much. Because the Cubs won't be in the WS. How do I know that? It's because they are the Cubs...why else? No matter how much of a lead they have...it's always choke city. Anyone remember 1984? 3 games up on San Diego in a 4 game series and choke. Hey...it's the Cubs. No wonder for years you hear at the last game of every season, "well....there's always next year."
