One of my favorite movie lines - "Enough about me, what do you think about me". So, indulge me for a second while I try to figure out something that is totally inconsequential.
When we started Community Christian Church the first title I had was Teaching Pastor...I'm not exactly sure why, but it was. Then I went to Senior Pastor, even though I was still in my 20's and not very "senior". Then I started using the title Lead Pastor. I think this fits a little better - since leading is what I do most. But I would like something that describes what I really do - which is start new things and provide leadership for CCC and NewThing.
Ok, I've thought about Spiritual Entrepreneur but I've been getting some grief over that one and the latest Economist article Jesus CEO is kind of scaring me off! I think Erwin McManus title of Cultural Architect is kind of cool. And I think I heard Wayne Cordeiro refer to himself as Dream Releaser. Ken Blanchard calls himself the Chief Spiritual Officer...but that is another blog.
So, I'd like a title that reflects what I really do. AND I'd like to use a title so that when people read it or hear it it sparks some interest and intrigue rather than the reaction I get to "pastor", which is "oh, that's nice". To resolve this dilemma recently I have been changing the title in my autograph on my e-mail every few days depending on what I'm doing or feeling. Recently my title has been Lead Pastor/Christmas Enthusiast. Like it?
So what do you think? Ultimately, I know it doesn't really matter. But any ideas?
